- Latest prototype features a fixed rear wing and carbon brakes.
- Dozens of small cooling holes are visible across the hood.
- AMG has engineered a system that mimics the sound of a V8.
Mercedes-AMG’s all-electric GT 4-Door Coupe is due for a full reveal this spring, arriving not long after the brand previewed its concept-inspired interior. It steps straight into the ring with the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan, so it cannot afford to be anything less than convincing, and early signs suggest the lineup will span several distinct versions.
Our spy photographers recently snapped a quartet of heavily camouflaged prototypes testing in the European snow, but one of them stood out from the rest. Attached to the rear was a fixed wing, suggesting this may be an even hotter version of the sleek electric sedan.

The spoiler isn’t dissimilar in size and shape to the one recently teased for the limited-run Mythos-series CLE Coupe, and is somewhat at odds with the rest of the car’s design. However, the same could be said for the Porsche Taycan, which has an exceptionally sleek profile, yet somehow manages to pull off having a large wing on the flagship Turbo GT version.
An EV That Could Be Exhilarating?

This prototype also has dozens of small holes positioned in the center of the hood, likely aiding in cooling, and not visible on other prototypes. Does this suggest it’ll have an even more powerful electric motor at the front axle? It’s certainly possible.
Given the car’s size and no doubt hefty weight, it comes as no surprise that it’s equipped with a set of huge, two-piece carbon fiber brake rotors. Up front, we can also see some hefty 275/35 R21 Michelin snow tires, and the rubber at the rear will be even wider.
How Much Power?
Underpinning the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will be the company’s bespoke AMG.EA architecture, equipped with three axial-flux motors. Different configurations are likely, and it’s possible that this range-topper taking the fight to the Taycan Turbo GT could churn out as much as 1,341 hp.
AMG is also eager to ensure the EV is just as entertaining to drive as its combustion-powered predecessor. As such, it’ll come equipped with a system that mimics the roar and bellow of a V8 engine, as well as fake shifts to replicate the feel of a dual-clutch transmission, pioneered by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
