The Porsche Carrera GT, often cited as the last truly analog supercar, seems to grow more desirable with each passing year. Two decades after its debut, the V10-powered flagship still commands the attention of collectors and specialists alike.
If you happen to want one with a little more bite, California-based Canepa has unveiled a special version of the machine, pairing a comprehensive restoration with a bespoke specification and a few discreet upgrades beneath the surface.
Unveiled at the Amelia Island Concours last weekend, the Porsche Carrera GT SC (Sport Canepa) is finished in Liquid Metal Green, complete with matching mesh in the engine bay. The look is complemented by gloss black headlight bezels and dual exhaust pipes, adding a subtle contrast to the vivid paint.

Other highlights include a custom roll hoop in exposed carbon fiber and matte carbon detailing throughout the engine bay. The supercar rides on the original five-spoke magnesium wheels, complete with anodized black center locks.

The interior has also been reimagined, replacing the standard materials with cream-colored leather and Alcantara. The fresh upholstery now covers most surfaces in the cabin as well as the frunk. Aluminum and carbon fiber accents remain, joined by the Carrera GT’s signature wooden gear knob.

Beyond the concours-level restoration, the Carrera GT SC receives a handful of mechanical updates. The naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V10 remains untouched internally, but a new stainless steel exhaust system promises a sharper soundtrack and a slight increase in power.
The notoriously tricky factory clutch has also been upgraded for improved usability and durability, while the suspension is replaced with a KW setup that includes a hydraulic front-axle lift system.
Canepa says this version is only the beginning, with another Carrera GT SC already in development. Pricing for the extensive transformation hasn’t been disclosed, though the company confirms it is accepting commissions.

The timing for a project like this is hardly accidental, as the market for Porsche’s V10 flagship keeps climbing. Last year, Porsche restored a Carrera GT to “zero km” condition, complete with a hand-painted racing livery, a reworked interior, and a rebuilt engine.

A unique Gulf Blue Carrera GT, one of just 19 examples finished through the Paint-to-Sample program, sold at Broad Arrow’s Amelia Island auction this past weekend for a record $6.7 million. With standard cars already trading between $3 million and $3.5 million, the Carrera GT has firmly secured its place among the most coveted models in Porsche’s history.

Alongside the Carrera GT, Canepa’s display at Amelia Island included another attention grabber from Zuffenhausen, commissioned by a private client.
This one is a Porsche 959 SC (Sport Canepa), finished in Rubystone Red with white 18-inch alloy wheels and a bright white leather interior. The classic supercar has also been thoroughly updated, gaining new electronics, a modern sound system, revised suspension, and a modified engine now producing an impressive 850 horsepower.
