- A Ford F-Series carried high-tensile wire in its bed, damaging the car wash.
- Wire got tangled in the spinning brushes and hit a Fusion also being washed.
- The driver of the pickup says he completely forgot about the wire in the bed.
Automatic car washes are bad enough as it is, but a rancher in North Carolina recently made an embarrassing faux pas that turned a regular car wash into a nightmare. So here’s the thing: if you’re ever using a car wash with a pickup, make sure your bed is empty.
The rancher in question, Kyle Corbett, pulled into the car wash with his Ford F-Series pickup, not realizing that he had a bunch of high-tensile wire in the bed to use for fencing. While his Ford managed to pull through part of the car wash without issue, the spinning brushes got tangled in the wire and started unraveling it.

This was bad news for the Ford Fusion that had pulled into the car wash behind Corbett, as it was hit with the brushes, now wrapped in steel wire. A clip shared on TikTok doesn’t show the extent of damage to the Fusion, but it likely destroyed parts of the paintwork across its front end.
“I needed to put up more fence for my cattle, so I purchased this reel of high tensile wire the night before, and the next day I went up town to take care of some business at the bank,” Corbett said. “I decided to run through the car wash ‘real quick’ and didn’t think about that wire.”
A Wash Of A Different Kind
@kyle.corbett5 Lesson today is don’t go in the car wash with high tensile wire in the bed of your truck.

“I went to the car wash and the guys checked my truck out for safety,” he added. “I went through and that’s when all hell broke loose. It wrapped up half of the fence in just a matter of seconds and beat the hell out of that car behind me. It sounded like a war zone.”
What happens next remains to be seen. Many online believe that Corbett’s insurer should be on the hook for the damage to the car wash and to the white Fusion, with one TikTok user writing “Congrats, you just bought a car wash!” in the comments, while another wrote “That $15 wash just costed y’all $150k. God speed.”
Others suggest that staff at the car wash may be responsible and that they should have checked the pickup’s bed before allowing it to go through. Whatever the case may be, it’s impossible not to feel sorry for the owner of the Ford Fusion.
