• A Stellantis powertrain video teased Chrysler’s next new model.
  • Renderings imagine the production Airflow from that footage.
  • The crossover should land as a 2028 model priced under $40,000.

For years, Stellantis has left the Chrysler brand to rot, and the proof is in the showroom: the lineup is down to just one model, the Pacifica minivan and its Voyager twin. That changes before the decade is out. The company has confirmed three crossovers joining the range by 2030, and the first of them may look something like this.

Chrysler has floated the idea of fresh product for a while now, the high point being the sleek Airflow concept, a sedan-and-SUV hybrid shape it showed in early 2022. The company killed that model but kept the idea, and a vehicle that reads as its next step surfaced earlier this month in a Stellantis video about powertrains. That mystery machine is the basis for these renderings, created by Nikita Chuyko for Kolesa.

Clearly, this electrified crossover, which may end up being the production-spec Airflow, looks unlike any other Chrysler model. Indeed, the only thread connecting it to today’s Pacifica is the LED light bar up front, complete with an illuminated Chrysler wing badge. A large blacked-out grille sits below it

Overall, the high-riding hatchback shape resembles what we previously described as a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with Cadillac’s edgy design details, which is no bad thing. The side windows are sharp and angled, and prominent indentations run across the front and rear doors. Chuyko has also put the new model on a set of tightly-spoked wheels, giving it a classy feel.

As for the rear, it has prominent LED taillights that run along either side of the rear window, somewhat reminiscent of the new Renault 5’s taillights. A light bar and illuminated Chrysler script join them, set above a blacked-out bumper.

Stellantis teased the new Chrysler Airflow SUV in a recent video.

No matter what the Airflow ends up looking like, it will ride on Stellantis’ latest STLA One platform, which bends to accommodate hybrid, all-wheel-drive, and fully electric setups. In the teaser video, the Airflow appears to run a turbocharged four-cylinder, which tracks with what the architecture allows. Chrysler has separately confirmed an EV variant, and a hybrid or plug-in hybrid looks like a safe bet.

Stellantis kept the technical stuff to itself for now, but it has confirmed the price will land under $40,000 when the SUV reaches dealer lots within two years as a 2028 model.

Entry-Level Arrows

Past the Airflow, Chrysler has locked in two more models, the Arrow and the Arrow Cross, based on the recently introduced Fiat Grizzly SUV and Fastback. The pair share the group’s Smart Car platform and stretch to roughly 177.2 inches (4.5 meters), which drops them into the subcompact class and lines them up with Toyota’s new C-HR on footprint.

Buyers will get a choice of gasoline, mild-hybrid, and fully electric power. Chrysler has positioned these two rebadged cars as its new entry point, confirming that pricing will open below $30,000.
