Citroën Announces UK Pricing and Availability for New DS4

The new high-riding Citroën DS4 has arrived in Britain and is available for pre-order now, with first deliveries to take place on July 4, 2011. The five-door crossover model is available with three trim-levels (DSign, DStyle and DSport) and a choice of five Euro 5 compliant engines, with on-the-road prices ranging from £18,150 to just under £24,000.

The range includes two diesels, HDi 110HP and HDi 160HP, and three 1.6-liter petrol units that were co-developed with BMW, the VTi 120HP, THP 155HP and a new THP 200HP.

The 110HP diesel unit is also offered as an e-HDi version featuring Citroën’s micro-hybrid technology with a second generation Stop & Start system that boosts fuel economy by up to 15% in city driving conditions and lowers the model’s official CO2 emissions to just 114g/km.

The THP 155HP petrol and e-HDi 110HP diesel are both mated to 6-speed EGS (Electronic Gearbox System) transmissions while the rest of the range is offered with manual gearboxes.

The most potent model is the 200HP turbocharged petrol that offers the DS4 a top speed of 146mph and 0-62mph time of 8.5 seconds, while returning 44.1mpg UK over the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 149g/km.

If you’re wondering where the DS4 is positioned in the market, the French firm claims it will draw buyers from most niches of the C-Segment be that three door sports cars like the Scirocco, SUV / Crossovers like the Nissan Qashqai or premium offerings such as the RWD BMW 1-Series hatchback.

“[The] New DS4 is positioned at an intersection of different competitor types – such as 3-door coupés (e.g. VW Scirocco, Renault Mégane Coupé), 3 & 5-door hatchbacks (e.g. VW Golf, Honda Civic) and Crossovers (e.g. Nissan Qashqai, Mini Countryman). DS4 is expected to attract attention from buyers in these segments. Key rivals also include 5-door premium and semi-premium hatchbacks that offer a similar blend of status, dynamism and versatility, such as the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, BMW 1-Series and Audi A3 Sportback.”
