• Ram’s Bucking Hemi mechanical bull was stolen after a Roadkill Nights drag event.
  • CEO Tim Kuniskis asked the enthusiast community for help recovering the ride-on bull.
  • The bull has a huge Ram’s head and was being used to promote the return of the Hemi.

You’ve no doubt heard the saying “what happens on tour, stays on tour.” Well, some mischievous muscle fans took that maxim to heart, deciding that a Ram mechanical bull that was spreading the V8 word across the US wouldn’t be returning to Detroit.

Earlier this summer, Ram stuck a giant silver Ram’s head on a mechanical bull and covered its body with a V8-print saddle to promote the return of Hemi V8 power to its truck lineup. Called Bucking Hemi, the beast made its debut in June at the Michigan International Speedway to tie in with Ram’s return to NASCAR.

However, a subsequent appearance at a Roadkill Nights drag racing event in southeast Michigan turned out to be its last.

Stolen during teardown

The ride was stolen from the event during disassembly at around 21.45 on Saturday, prompting Ram boss and muscle saviour Tim Kuniskis to reach out on social media.

“This is bull****,” said the Ram CEO in a statement from the automaker. “Our Bucking Hemi was taken on Saturday evening. The search is officially on and we won’t stop searching until we get him back.”

Ram asked for the enthusiast community’s help and said it was working with authorities in an attempt to ensure its safe return. It advised anyone with any information to contact local law enforcement or reach out to Ram directly.

A call to the community

“While this is a tremendous loss for the Hemi community, Ram remains undeterred,” the company added. “We ask the public to help us spread the word and assist in locating our beloved Bucking Hemi.”

Though there’s no guarantee the bull will be recovered, the enthusiast community has been known to hunt out high-profile bits of stolen automotive hardware. When former Top Gear host Chris Harris’s classic BMW M5 was stolen last month, he asked his social media followers for help, and the car was found, mostly undamaged, the same day.
