• DS Automobiles has introduced the new Taylor made N°4 concept.
  • It was created with the assistance of racing driver Taylor Barnard.
  • The sporty design draws inspiration from racing and video games.

The Detroit Auto Show used to be a global phenomenon, but it’s getting upstaged once again by the Brussels Motor Show. The event has been jam-packed with debuts and one of the latest is the Taylor made N°4 concept.

Despite sounding like a golfing-focused collab, the name references DS Penske Formula E Team driver Taylor Barnard. He helped to create the one-off concept, which takes cues from racing and video games.

Designed to promote the DS Performance Line Limited Edition collection, the car has been given an extensive makeover. Starting up front, we can see pixelated headlights and familiar fang-like LED daytime running lights. They’re joined by a unique grille, which features “N°4” lettering as well as an illuminated DS logo.

Moving further back, there are extended fenders and a reduced ride height. The model has also been equipped with minimalist mirrors and motorsport-inspired door handles.

We can also see unique wheels and a massive diffuser with an integrated brake light showing 77. That’s Barnard’s lucky number and it can also be found on the hood. Getting back to the rear end, it’s notable for featuring pixelated taillights and new vertical lighting elements.

The concept has a Pure Titanium exterior with Liquid Titanium accents as well as Craft Titanium flourishes, which replace traditional carbon fiber. The model also sports a Black Titanium roof and a split rear spoiler. They’re joined by Light Gold touches and splashes of purple, which is Barnard’s favorite color.

DS Automobiles hasn’t released much technical detail about the concept itself, but noted the road-going N°4 offers hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains. The latter is known as the N°4 E-Tense and it features 210 hp (157 kW / 213 PS) and a WLTP range of 280 miles (450 km).

Barnard remarked, “The N°4 was already my favorite model in the range, so when the brand’s design department presented me with this project, I was both enamored and honored.” The racer went on to say, “Coming up with a sports car that could be mine every day was an exciting experience. This unique creation is the result of a special collaboration, reflecting the remarkable talent of the women and men from DS Automobiles, who make us dream through their new designs.”
