• Italians are apparently very fond of the pint-sized Avenger.
  • The Jeep was the nation’s best-selling SUV the past two years.
  • In February, Avenger sales trailed only the Fiat Pandina.

Jeep launching a small, rugged SUV aimed squarely at Europe was a bit of a gamble. So far, it looks like a very good one. Demand has been strong enough that you could argue Stellantis might have missed a trick by not offering it in more markets.

By mid-2025, Jeep had already confirmed more than 200,000 orders for the Avenger, and Italy in particular has taken a shine to it. The latest sales data from Stellantis shows the Avenger finished February as the country’s second-best-selling new car, sitting just behind the Fiat Pandina.

In February alone, 5,893 new Avengers found homes in Italy, giving the compact SUV a healthy 3.7 percent share of the overall new car market. That still left a sizeable gap to the Pandina, which racked up 12,612 sales for an 8 percent share. Even so, the Avenger outsold the ever-popular Fiat Grande Panda with 5,500 sales, as well as the Leapmotor T03, which recorded 4,776.

Look a little closer and an interesting pattern emerges. Italy’s four best-selling cars in February all came from Stellantis, assuming you count Leapmotor in the mix.

The Avenger’s strong appeal in Italy wasn’t just a fluke for a single month. In both 2024 and 2025, the Jeep Avenger was the best-selling SUV in the country. In 2025, it captured more than 5.5 percent of the total SUV market and had an 11 percent share of the B-SUV segment.

No doubt key to the appeal of the Avenger is the fact that it’s small enough for historic European streets while still having the kind of rugged personality that is synonymous with Jeep. Buyers also get a powertrain lineup that covers just about every preference.

In addition to the Avenger being offered with a simple 1.2-liter gas engine and a manual transmission, buyers can opt for a 48-volt mild-hybrid that pairs the same 1.2-liter engine with a 28 hp electric motor. Jeep also offers the Avenger with its 4xe all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid system. And for those who prefer near-silent driving, it’s available as a fully electric model.
