- Ford is celebrating the Expedition’s 30th anniversary with a new package.
- It adds gloss black wheels, special badging, and available Dark Horse paint.
- Buyers will find a two-tone interior with special 30th anniversary accents.
The Ford Expedition debuted 30 years ago and the company is marking the occasion with a special edition package. It builds on the stealth appearance kit and adds a handful of unique touches.
The biggest changes occur outside as the model offers an exclusive Blue Ember metallic tri-coat exterior, which is typically reserved for the Mustang Dark Horse. Its appearance changes based on lighting conditions and will certainly attract attention.

That isn’t the only change as the SUV rides on 22-inch gloss black wheels that feature special “Expedition 30 Years” center caps. They’re joined by a “30 Years” badge on the liftgate.
This is on top of the usual stealth appearance upgrades that include black headlight bezels and black Expedition lettering on the hood. The model also sports Carbon Black accents and black window trim.
While the stealth appearance package includes Black Onyx perforated leather seats, the 30th anniversary edition has “salt crystal gray” seats that are contrasted by black accents. We can also see contrast stitching as well as anniversary badging on the door sill plates and center console lid.
Ford didn’t mention pricing, but the stealth appearance package costs $3,575 and can be had on the 2026 Expedition Platinum, which starts at $74,250 before a $2,795 destination fee. This suggests the 2027 Expedition 30th Anniversary Edition will start north of $80,000.
Power will be provided by a familiar 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. While the model also offers a high-output engine – developing 440 hp (328 kW / 446 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) – it’s unclear if it will be available in conjunction with the special edition package.
Nearly 3 Million Sold
While Ford boldly claimed the Expedition ‘helped’ build a segment, the Blue Oval was actually chasing the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban as well as their GMC counterparts. While Dearborn was way behind, the Expo proved successful and the company has sold nearly three million units since its launch in 1997.
Last year alone, the automaker moved 85,921 units in the United States for a 10.1% increase. This was aided by a recent redesign, but the model still trails the Tahoe and Suburban by a large margin as those two vehicles found 172,885 buyers.
