- Stellantis is recalling nearly 1 million vehicles over a rearview camera problem.
- The automaker said a software issue can prevent a rearview image from showing.
- The recall impacts most of Jeep’s lineup as well as Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram.
Rearview cameras are an important safety feature that can save lives and reduce accidents. However, they’ve been problematic and have sparked over 180 recalls since 2018.
We’re adding to that list as Stellantis has announced plans to recall 848,511 vehicles in the United States, plus about 107,000 more in other markets, bringing the total to over 955,000. The issue was sparked by radio software that may prevent a rearview camera image from appearing on the infotainment display.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn’t published a safety recall report detailing the problem, but it impacts numerous models from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. This includes the 2026-2027 Dodge Charger as well as the 2026-27 Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, and Voyager.
Jeep is among the hardest hit as the recall impacts the 2026 Compass, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L, Gladiator, and Wrangler. Over at Ram, the 2026 1500, 2500, ProMaster, and ProMaster EV are affected.
While little is known about the problem at this point, Stellantis said the company isn’t aware of any injuries or accidents related to the issue. Recall notices go out in September, and the fix arrives as an over-the-air radio software update across every affected brand. A prompt will appear on the vehicle’s media screen once the update is ready.
Besides the campaign in the United States, Stellantis is recalling nearly 107,000 vehicles globally for the same issue. This includes around 82,869 in Canada, 7,969 in Mexico, and another 15,736 located outside of North America.
