The 2011 Ford Mustang V6’s bragging rights may be short-lived if we are to believe an email sent to a Camaro enthusiast website by GM officials.

Allegedly signed by Cheryl Pilcher, John Fitzpatrick, Adam Denison and Scott Settlemire, the email makes word of a tweaked version of the GM’s 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 312 ponies, or 8HP more than the current Camaro V6 and more importantly, 7HP more than the recently revealed 2011 Mustang V6.

Bear in mind, however, that the 2010 Camaro V6 tips the scales at 3,780 lbs versus the 2011 Mustang V6’s 3,453 lbs.

The paper also notes that Chevy will offer the Synergy Green color option (seen in these pictures) on all models for a limited time and that Heads-up-display (HUD) will be offered as standard equipment on the 2LT and 2SS models.
