Revealed for the first time at the recent 2011 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, the facelifted 2012 Toyota Avensis has now entered series production at the Japanese company’s Burnaston factory in Britain.

The refreshed mid-size model that is available in two body styles, sedan and station wagon, will begin reaching European showrooms in the beginning of next year, but Toyota’s UK arm has already announced pricing details.

The good news for British buyers is that despite the improvements throughout, including a tweaked 2.0-litre D-4D diesel engine that produces 124HP, prices remain at the same level as before.

The new Avensis is offered in four trim levels including the T2, TR, T4 and T Spirit in both saloon and tourer body styles, with prices starting from £18,450 for the 1.8-liter Valvematic T2 saloon with a six-speed manual transmission.
