General Motors announced today that the upcoming Chevrolet Trax will be sold in Australia as well under the Holden Trax moniker.

The only changes over the Chevrolet version of the Trax are the Holden grille and logos along with some market-specific tweaks to the chassis.

“We are working closely with the homeroom on global calibration work and of course making further refinements to ensure Trax will be well suited to Australian roads and conditions when it arrives next year,” said Holden Director of Powertrain Engineering, Simon Cassin.

The Chevrolet and Holden Trax are sister models to the North American Buick Encore and its European twin, the Opel Mokka, which was shown in Geneva this year.

The Chevrolet Trax will debut at the Paris Motor Show this fall and will be offered in more than 140 countries around the world with sales to start in the fourth quarter of the year.

The Holden version of the Nissan Juke-sized crossover will enter the Australian market in 2013.

Holden said that the new model would be an important entry for the brand into the increasingly popular small SUV segment, which has grown 57.3 per cent year to date over last year.
