The refreshed VW Polo supermini has reached UK shores with a starting on-the-road (OTR) price of £11,100 (€13,257). Featuring discrete styling upgrades but significant hardware additions, the VW Polo can be ordered in the UK now with first deliveries scheduled to begin in July.

The new Polo features a range of new EU6-compliant engines offering fuel efficiency improvements of up to 23 percent over the old units. Petrol options are two three-cylinder 1.0-liter MPI units with 60 or 75 PS; two 1.2-liter four-cylinder TSI engines with 90 or 110 PS, and a 1.4-liter TSI engine with cylinder deactivation (ACT), with power increased by 10 PS to 150 PS. Diesel options are two new three-cylinder 1.4-liter TDI engines, with 75 and 90 PS.

All new Polos have improved standard equipment including the latest generation of VW’s modular entertainment touchscreen system, ESC electronic stability control, Hill Hold and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. All UK models offer Bluetooth telephone connectivity and USB media-in. New optional safety features include a Driver Alert System (standard on BlueGT, £25 on other models) and Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist and City Emergency Braking (£500).

The VW Polo’s UK lineup comprises 6 grades: S, S A/C, SE, SE Design, SEL and BlueGT. A new Polo BlueMotion TSI will become available towards the end of 2014, along with the new Polo GTI that will be offered with either manual or DSG dual-clutch transmissions.
