Peugeot has managed to create a very imposing shape with its new Exalt concept. It is, as you already know, a four-door coupe (or “dynamic saloon,” as they call it) that embodies the very latest evolution of the French automaker’s design language.

One standout feature is the long bonnet, which like in the case of the Mazda6, is meant to give the impression of rear-wheel drive car proportions and the image that it brings. Overall, it looks pretty original, and on the whole, the only thing that resembles something from another car is the bonnet whose shape is very similar to that of a Kia Optima.

Inside, occupants are treated to some bare metal-finished areas, warm toned wood and “natural wool-based ‘chiné’ mixed fabric used to trim the door panels, the dashboard and the interior roof.  Between these two materials, a strip made by 3D printing conceals the speakers of the Hi-Fi system.” Carbon fiber, ebony wood and a special ‘shark skin’ textile material complete the list and help give a pleasant, very modern ambiance.

The hybrid powertrain promises 340 horses. It is comprised of the 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine from the RCZ-R with the added punch of an electric motor. As is the case with other PSA hybrids, this one uses the same all-wheel drive layout: gasoline is burnt to drive the front wheels, while the rears are exclusively turned by electricity.

Expect to see the Exalt make its official debut later this month at the Beijing motor show.
