Looking over from Europe at the kinds of crazy modded pickups folks have over in the US, one is impressed by their diversity. We have canyon carvers, EVs, ones that sound like 1980s rally cars and even ones that never officially existed…

Another breed apart is the beaten up, rusty-looking rat rod style of truck. These trucks usually warrant a smoky diesel engine under their hood to keep the general dirty theme – not all have it, but those that do are cooler.

The truck you see here is kind of the epitome of that recipe, being quintessentially a rat rod, with a big overboosted oil burner powering it on the drag strip, then back home towing the owner/builder’s caravan.

And don’t think it’s taken to the drag strip to make smoke and the crowds clap. Its owner says it put down 505hp on the dyno, along with 885 lb-ft (~1,200 Nm) of torque. Two more coolness-boosting factors are that it has a manual five-speed and the…cavernous dual pipes it calls exhausts.
