Jeep has pulled an impressive stunt in downtown Vancouver by turning a city street into a forest with a mountain river, complete with snowbanks, boulders, rocks, sand, gravel, moss, trees and even two wolves!

They did that to shoot a commercial that features unsuspecting drivers recruited to test the new Cherokee as they are taken by surprise by a sudden change of scenery. The 30-second “River in the City” commercial debuted on television on January 4 and features drivers following directions from the Cherokee’s navigation system throughout downtown Vancouver until they reach a “wild” part of town.

“We wanted to bring to life the real world capabilities of the Jeep Cherokee in a unique approach. So how do you do that? By taking what is essentially an experiential event where unsuspecting drivers are being filmed navigating a busy metropolitan street that has been turned into a fully functional mountain river and let them experience the capabilities of the Jeep Cherokee for themselves,” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer, FCA – Global. The moral of the story is that the Jeep Cherokee “can handle anything a city throws at it,” the executive added.

Head down to watch the commercial, as well as a behind-the-scenes video that explores the making of the “River in the City” commercial, plus interviews with the drivers. Oh, and if you’re wondering about the wolves, the two animals present on set were domesticated, mixed-breed wolves that kindly allowed people to take pictures with them.
