Scuderia Ferrari is the biggest name in the history of Formula 1. They’ve won 221 grand prix races from 1950 until today and now they’re ready to take on the 2015 season with the all-new SF15-T.

Last year wasn’t very kind to Ferrari in Formula 1. They didn’t manage to win any races – which hadn’t happened since 1993 and the only reason why they scored 216 points and finished in a semi-respectable 4th place was because of Fernando Alonso’s driving skills.

Technical director James Allison told Ferrari.com “We’ve tried to make sure that the weaknesses that we felt were particularly noticeable on the ’14 car were put right for the ’15 car.”

This year, it meant not just addressing aerodynamics but also improved cooling and a better power unit. Allison explained that “Early on in the season (2014) the power delivery was not particularly sophisticated so it was tough for the drivers to get the throttle response they wanted. That improved a lot during the season and we’ve taken it a step further for the SF15-T.”

He then also admitted that one of the weaknesses of last year’s car was “that the amount of electrical energy we were able to recover from the turbo was not really good enough for producing competitive power levels during the race. That’s an area where we’ve tried to change the architecture of the engine to make it a better compromise between qualifying and racing performance.”

As for team principal Maurizio Arrivabene, he expects a minimum of two Grand Prix victories this year, saying “we are committed to win at least two races” but he’s just playing it safe, since it looks as if the SF15-T will be significantly more competitive than the previous car.

Plus, it’s better looking than last year’s car so it’s no wonder that Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen can’t wait to get to work!
