Chevy Drops First Shots Of 2016 Camaro’s “Sculpted” Body

So, this is what the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro’s rear quarters (sans lights, windows and bumper), and its excessively sculpted alloy hood will look like.

These two official photos were released on Thursday as part of GM’s ongoing teaser-campaign that kicked off with the muscle car’s logo back in March this year continuing with several pictures and bits of information on the 6th-gen Camaro’s weight, exhaust system, driver modes, rims and brakes, over the past few weeks.

In the meantime, we’ve also seen photos of the car’s (alleged) headlamps and profile from non-official sources.

Back to today’s release, GM says the new 2016 Camaro’s exterior design ” is defined by complex shapes, which appear to be form-fitted around the mechanical components” such as the alloy hood that seems “to be shrink-wrapped around the engine” and greater detailing, including a subtle crease running parallel to the fender edge to make it look lower and wider despite the smaller footprint over its predecessor.

“The Camaro went to the gym and came out with a lithe, more athletic physique for the sixth generation,” said Ed Welburn, vice president, GM Global Design. “It’s a more expressive evolution of the Camaro’s iconic character – and one that complements its leaner size and sharper reflexes.”

Chevy plans to unveil the new Camaro on May 16, 2015 during a special public event event at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.
