Have you ever wanted to own a car featured on Top Gear?

We’re not talking about a super-exotic hyper-car, or a remote controlled Morris Marina with a piano tied to its roof, but a car that was used in a challenge episode; a road trip car that was part of Jeremy’s, James’s and Richard’s shenanigans.

According to Classic Car Auctions, this 1996 M3 E36 Evo 4-door saloon was featured in one of the show’s car-challenge adventures. If you are a Top Gear fan (who isn’t?), you surely remember the episode in which the three blokes used an M3, alongside a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and a Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth, to complete various challenges in Germany. Well, apparently this M3 is the one driven by Hammond across Germany.

The car took part in the Sports Saloon cheap-car-challenge, being bought by Richard for £5,000. The seller does not mention that the car was thoroughly inspected by ADAC, at one point in the episode, which announced that the car was previously involved in an accident and hadn’t been mended properly – since it got a score of 6 points out of 150 on the test and the Germans used the term “kaput” to describe it.

Furthermore, if we remember correctly, the M3 was given a beating around the track by the Stig’s German cousin, which we believe was Sabine Schmitz.

Nevertheless, this M3 is expected to fetch between £7,500 and £10,000, even if it still has the caramel interior with the fake wood trim.

How many times have you watched Top Gear and said: “Man, I wish I could own that someday”. Well, here’s your opportunity. Be glad it’s not an Austin Allegro.
