This Is How Manufacturers Test On The ‘Ring

Automakers like the Nurburgring because it offers challenging conditions to test car handling in. It has so many styles of corner that it can replicate real world situations where test drivers can push the car beyond its limit to see if it can handle it.

In this video posted below, you get to see some of the weird or just plain silly looking / spectacular maneuvers they pull. It’s all for testing and giving data to the various sensors these mules and test cars have on board.

A large part of the testing is still just pushing the car’s handling limits, an exercise which caused the Q7 crash we posted not so long ago. Also, with the banning of lap record attempts, the Nurburgring will continue morphing into a common use testing facility shared by all automakers, like the ones around the Arctic Circle.

If you enjoy seeing a selection of cars driven with the intent to break them, then do scroll down to the video.
