Mainly known for their insane Nurburgring lap times, the hot versions of Honda’s and Renault’s hatches are among the fastest front-wheel drive models ever.

No arguing there, since the Megane RS Trophy R has lapped the Green Hell in 7:54 and the newer Civic Type R beating that time by almost four seconds, with an astonishing 7:50.

Comparing times set in different conditions, in order to answer which of the front-wheel drive weapons is the fastest, might not give the whole picture. That’s why EVO took them both on the Bedford Autodrome for a direct comparison against the clock on the same day.

The fact that one of them wears stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires from the factory plays its part in the end, but the video manages to portray the handling differences between the Honda Civic Type R and the Renault Megane RS Trophy R quite nicely.
