The first reviews of the new Bentley Bentayga are landing, giving us the chance to get to know what this new kind of British luxury is really like.

We already kind-of know that the new Bentley Bentayga will become the company’s cash cow, as the demand for big luxurious SUVs has become very strong for every premium brand to ignore.

It’s no coincidence that all major players in the industry are developing their own models to enter this segment, with brands like Lamborghini also working on their future SUV model. Bentley claims that the Bentayga is the fastest, most powerful SUV in the world, thanks to its twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine which allows it to reach 60mph from zero in four seconds flat and on to a frankly ridiculous 187mph top speed.

All this speed is combined with Bentley’s traditional art in turning a cabin into a really special place, using only the best materials and craftsmanship to give the Bentayga the same kind of environment you usually find in their other models.

This is the world we are leaving in then, with buyers demanding this type of performance and luxury out of an SUV and Bentley got there first to occupy this profitable corner of the market, named something like “Ultra-Premium SUV” segment, a step above the Range Rovers and Porsche Cayennes.
