Apparently, texting and driving is getting so out of hand that even Porsche made a cool campaign against it.

Using Mark Webber and a 911 GT3 Cup, the German car manufacturer tries to showcase that the dangerous habit of texting and driving can’t be tamed by anyone. The simple video description – “Even Mark Webber can´t do this. That´s why you shouldn’t” – points out that even a Le Mans racing driver has trouble going well around a course while handling a cellphone.

The footage portrays Webber doing what he knows best at the wheel of the Porsche, driving very smooth and precise until the phone chimes. He then begins losing more and more control of the car as the text messages increase, but after seeing them – on the Porsche Design Blackberry, by the way – it becomes self-explanatory why he’s so distracted and sad at the end of the clip.

Is this video corny? Totally, as the spins-outs and off-tracks seem carefully choreographed, but the message that Porsche and Webber delivers is more important. The real world isn’t a directed ad, and there are no supervised dangerous maneuvers, so keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
