Holden and CyclingTips have joined forces to produce a VFII Sportwagon support car, set to debut during Australia’s biggest cycling event, The Tour Down Under.

The CyclingTips VFII SS-V Sportwagon is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine, more than capable of dealing with the added cycle racks and carrying multiple bicycles and support gear. If customers are interested in the car on which the support vehicle is based on, it’s obviously available at Holden dealerships across Australia, whereas the roof racks and cycle racks are available in the brand’s catalogue of genuine accessories.

Behind this unique wrap-job was Lead Designer Warrack Leach, who himself is a keen cyclist in his spare time. Warrack is actually best known for his award-winning Buick Avenir concept car design from NAIAS, though he’s not going to shy away from updating the Commodore Sportwagon with the stylish “North/South” CyclingTips kit design.

“As well as the basic design, we added a twist by creating a mosaic of over 1000 user generated Instagram images from CyclingTips’ hashtag #wymtm (What You Missed This Morning), giving followers the chance to look out for themselves on the car at the Tour,” said Mr Leach.

CyclingTips founder Wade Wallace added that the “VFII Sportwagon is a great cycling support car. It has the power to keep up with our quickest riders whilst remaining agile and easy to handle when the corners get tight. I’m looking forward to putting it through its paces in South Australia.”

The Holden x CyclingTips support car will be present at the 2016 Tour Down Under from Monday 18 January until the 24th, before embarking on other exciting rides over the summer.
