Few modified cars can achieve a collector status, but this 1993 Strosek Mega Speedster in one of them.

There are thousands (if not more) tuning specialists out there, with shops, garages and right down multinational companies trying to get the best out of certain vehicles. Unfortunately, not many can build something special that won’t lose its value over time or, even better, increase its worth.

Vittorio Strosek is a designer that began his work at Colani and developed an affinity for Porsche and Lamborghini. The next move was creating his own business, Strosek Auto Design, and went on to modify Stuttgart’s best.

Even though his name is practically associated with Porsche, he was also responsible for Honda and Volkswagen concept cars and even was invited alongside Pininfarina, Bertone, Giugiaro and Gandini to take part at Lamborghini’s “Next Generation Diablo” project.

The 964 Speedster was already a limited-edition model, with only 936 examples built. This one is one of 15 Strosek-modified examples. It features a wide-body kit, 17 inch, three-piece OZ racing wheels and its signature headlights have been replaced by much smaller ones in the name of aerodynamics.

Porsche’s air-cooled 3.6-liter boxer remains completely stock, which means it pumps out 274 hp. Not supercar territory but no slouch either.

When it goes under the hammer at Bonhams, it is expected to fetch between $ 180,000 – 220,0000. Modern Porsches with a lower price tag will have it licked in every aspect bar one: this is a rare classic and they are mass produced.
