We are pretty sure that no one on this planet ever asked if a Leaf can drift – but that’s where the entertaining value kicks in.

Strapping a pair of plastic tires is the solution for some silent oversteer action, thought Autocar, who visited the Anglesey circuit during a professional drifting race to play with the balance of the all-electric hatch.

Nissan has recently revealed an upgraded 30kWh battery pack for the Leaf, increasing its maximum range to 250km (155 miles).

Along with the bigger battery pack, there’s also greater connectivity features for the occupants as well thanks to the introduction of the NissanConnect EV infotainment system.

Even though going sideways is the very last thing anyone would think about the Leaf, and the car doesn’t like being driven like this, hooning a zero-emissions vehicle is always going to be fun in a weird kind of way.
