A Californian woman suspected of driving drunk slammed her car into a homeless man and then drove for nearly a mile with the victim’s body lodged in the front seat, according to a police report.

As reported by the Washington Post, the sun was barely up on Monday morning, when 29-year old Stacy Sanchez was driving home from a night of heavy drinking in several bars, in her hometown of Oceanside.

Sanchez was behind the wheel of her Pontiac when she hit a pedestrian at around 6:20 am. Preliminary reports have yet to indicate whether the man was on the side of the road or the sidewalk, but the impact was so severe that it left the victim impaled into the vehicle.

Moreover, his leg was severed on the spot from his torso and landed on the trunk of the woman’s car, who continued her journey for another 0.75 miles, during which her sedan crashed through  landscaping and eventually stopped in a cul-de-sac. This is where Sanchez parked her car and she walked home to her nearby house, but when she arrived, her husband contacted the local police and paramedics.

The man, whose name has not been released, was a “known transient in the area”, as the Oceanside Police Department stated, and was pronounced dead at the scene. As for the driver, she was arrested for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter and is being held on $1.5 million bail.
