Bugatti’s sales and marketing boss has dropped a bombshell stating that the all-new Chiron won’t be offered as a roadster or convertible in the future.

Dr Stefan Brungs made the announcement at the opening of the overhauled Bugatti dealership in Mayfair, London. This news also rules out the possibility of a Chiron Targa becoming a reality at any stage in the future.

Brungs said that the French company is solely focused on selling all 500 units of the standard Chiron but did hint that an even faster variation of the Chiron is being considered. Even if it is, it wouldn’t launch before the end of the decade.

With 1500hp on tap from its advanced quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine, Bugatti has already confirmed that it will attempt to set a new top speed record for production cars sometime in 2018. When production of the car commences, it’ll ship with a 261 mph (420 km/h) top speed limiter.

Once de-restricted, some claim that the car will be capable of reaching 288 mph (468km/h), easily eclipsing the 268 mph (431 km/h) top speed of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, set in 2010 at the firm’s Ehra-Lessien test facility.
