Triumph Rider Goes Down On The Highway Due To Inattentive Driver

This unfortunate crash took place on a highway where splitting lanes at 40 mph (64 km/h) turned out to be a bad idea.

From the looks of things, the driver of the white sedan decided to change lanes at precisely the wrong moment. The woman behind the wheel did however signal her intention of moving left, apparently though without noticing the fast-approaching motorcycle.

Luckily the impact didn’t seem all that severe and the rider got back up pretty quickly – unlike his bike, which looks a lot like a Triumph Daytona 675 (or a 675R).

After the crash, another biker comes up to help but so does the woman, which at that point is all you can basically ask for from the person responsible for you having an accident.

I’m not against lane splitting. But seriously, if you’re going to do it then don’t be an idiot about it. This had nothing to do with the driver being “inattentive” when a biker charges through nearly-stopped traffic at 40mph. The driver of the car properly signaled and was moving slowly and safely with appropriate distance from other vehicles, and the biker still hit them because he didn’t allow enough stopping distance. The biker is 1000% in the wrong.

I agree. He was going a bit too fast compared to the rest of the traffic.

    • I’m Going Downnnnn…

Agree as well. Numbnuts was varying speed too much; not preparing for the unexpected; very slow moving traffic is among the worst to lane split as drivers become anxious and move from lane-to-lane just like the driver did in this video.

“The biker is 1000% in the wrong.”
      agreed

    • Vassilis

Well, yeah OK but we have mirrors for a reason. We should check them before changing lanes.

  • sam77

The rider is an idiot for doing this. Lane splitting can be legal but you really need to be brain dead to be doing that.

  • Yoyo

Where is the inattentive driver exactly? Biker was going too fast.

  • Bikerdude

Bikers fault! Clear as day! EVEN if the woman looked over her shoulder, bikes should never split the lane! It’s 100% unexpected and biker should know better. It’s because of people like this that motorcycle insurance is so high! Get some common sense dude!!

  • cooper

That idiot biker messed up that guys car.

  • Dan

Why rev your bike when you can brake? I don’t understand this behaviour…

    • Sébastien

…why cars use their horn ?
Same thing, except bike horns are lame.
