A number of desirable Ford Falcons and Holden models will cross the auction block at Shannons Spring Auction in Melbourne on Monday, September 19.
Arguably the highlight of the fleet is a two-owner 1970 Falcon XY GT. It is one of just 163 examples painted in Yellow Ochre and rolled off the production line in November 1970. Despite being 46 years old, it features all of its original parts, including the 351 cubic-inch V8 and according to pre-auction estimates, will sell for between $80,000-$100,000 ($59,876-$74,846 in the U.S.).
Another rather special Falcon comes in the form of an XW ‘GT Replica’, predicted to sell in the $50,000-$58,000 range. The car was once a Ford XY Falcon but was stripped back to its bare shell and rebuilt as an XW GT and painted red. Its interior was also redesigned to mimic that of the GT while a 351 cubic-inch V8 and three-speed automatic transmission were both installed.
For Holden fans, a 1970 HG Monaro GTS 186S Coupe is set to send tongues wagging. Finished in Cameo Gold with Antique Gold upholstery, it has been in the hands of the current owner for 27 years and recently underwent a three-year restoration. It is expected to sell for between $70,000 and $80,000.
Other headline cars at the auction include a 1977 Holden HX V8 Utility, a HX Ute and a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1.
