While the German Autobahn is among the safest places on earth to test out a vehicle’s performance, it still brings with it some inherent risks, one of which the following Porsche owner experienced first hand.

While doing an attempted top speed run in a Porsche 911 GT2, one of the rear tires explodes at an indicated 332 km/h  or about 206mph, violently shaking the car and forcing the driver to take immediate action.

Despite the intense situation that would leave most of us scared for our lives, the driver responds calmly and gradually slows down the car and pulls off to the nearest exit.

Although one’s first instinct might be to slam on the brakes, that would likely send the car into a violent and uncontrollable spin. Even pulling over at the side of the road can be dangerous, especially with vehicles traveling at high speeds just feet away, as on the Autobahn.

The GT2 may be known as the Widowmaker but this driver skilfully avoided its lethal web.
