Yep, you’ve read that right; the Model S P100D is about to become even quicker once Tesla releases its latest software update.

The news came directly from the company’s CEO Elon Musk who apparently was too excited not to share the news via his personal Twitter account:

“Looks like the Model S P100D Easter egg will allow it to do 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 sec and a 10.6 sec 1/4 mile via software update next month”, he tweeted earlier today.

That means that the update will improve the existing 0-60mph (96km/h) time by a tenth. According to Musk, all P100D models produced to date will receive a special Easter Egg with the upcoming update, allowing them to post even more ridiculous numbers off the line.

The same update will also be applied to Model X P100Ds, with Musk tweeting that it will drop the 0-60mph time down to 2.8 seconds, trimming a tenth from the original time.

With the Model S P100D already being the quickest accelerating car in production, it seems that Tesla will be sitting at the top spot for quite some time.
