Griot’s Garage revealed a two-door BMW E30 M3 Touring in SEMA and immediately we’re lost for words.

This eye-wateringly beautiful build was based on a 1989 E30 Touring that originally came from Japan, with their end goal to be not only turning it into a M3 replica but also converting its body into a two-door setup.

Unlike putting some new fenders on the car and call it a day, Griot’s Garage wanted to create something with a concours, coachbuilder level of fabrication, something that would actually look like it came this way from the factory.

J-Rod & Custom in Auburn, WA are responsible for the body conversion which included the removal of the stock front and rear doors, replacing them with a pair of coupe doors that are nine inches longer. The finished body was then painted in ‘Griot’s Red’ with a total of six coats, with an additional six coats of clear on top of it.

The gorgeous looking wagon had a heart transplant to match its appearance, with a 4.0-litre M60 V8, sourced from a 1995 540i, mounted into the engine bay. A six-speed manual gearbox -also from a 540i- is now responsible for transmitting the power through a custom driveshaft and into the 2.92 LSD rear end. The engine bay was also shaved and the firewall and inner fenders filled, with the harnesses fully tucked away for an awesome clean look.

Custom coilovers from Ground Control, upgraded sway bars and a Brembo brake kit are some of the main upgrades in the chassis in order for this E30 M3 Wagon to handle like it should. A set of HRE 501M alloys measuring 17×8 at the front and 17×9 at the rear finished in gold completed the exterior revisions.

This beautiful build was created to be the faster ‘Detail Wagen’ according to Griot’s Garage. That’s why the rear seat was deleted and replaced with a custom product display rack, while the cargo area now features a 15-gallon water tank and hose accommodations, providing everything the Griot’s Garage detailers need in order to work on a customer car.
