Genesis G70 Snapped In Seoul Without Any Camo

The Genesis G70 won’t debut until September 15 but images have just surfaced of its exterior and interior free of any camouflage.

The images appear to have come from a commercial shoot for the sports sedan and while not the highest quality, they do offer us our first chance to see the car and we’re pleased to say, it appears the long wait has been worth it.

The exterior shot shows a three-quarter angle of the rear where we can see twin oval tailpipes, a diffuser, shark fin antenna and a third brake light at the top of the rear window. Additionally, there’s a set of sharp silver wheels, red brake calipers and what appears to be a huge glass sunroof above the cabin.

Despite sharing its underpinnings with the Stinger, the G70’s interior is also vastly different. The top of the dashboard is dominated by a large infotainment screen while just below it is a pair of rectangular air vents. Further down there are three rotary dials for the climate control and on the center console you’ll find two cup holders, the shift lever and a plethora of buttons.

In top-spec, the Genesis G70 will be powered by a 365 hp 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with rear-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive an option.

  • Looks like Genesis is cribbing a lot of design cues from BMW.

    • Bash

So true, to me looks like a mix of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. And it doesn’t look bad at all tbh!

      • The rear lights in particular look like the ones from the 1st gen 1 series coupe.

        • Bash

          Yeah true, i see it.

      • Jesse A. C. Majors

First of all, those top lux brands copy each other as well all the time, but that’s not pointed out.

    • Jesse A. C. Majors

is that a bad thing? I’m not understanding. If it’s a different car pulling out the best styling cues of BMW but wrapped in different metal, What’s wrongs with that?

      • Well, having a more distinctive design would help better establish the Genesis brand.

        • Bash

well said. besides (disqus_83g6mJmr6l) pretty much said it all when referring to even KIA looks more original, specificity the G70s sister stinger. But honestly i like how the G70 looks.

        • SteersUright

Lexus proved distinctive isn’t always good. Cars just need good design. Steal from whoever, who cares if the final product is a beautifully styled automobile? Cars are so long in production that there is truly nothing all-new. So, instead, Hyundai wisely is just ensuring their new sport sedan is good looking. And from the spy shots, they appear on the right track.

          • donald seymour

Steers, you went from one extreme to the next extreme. Bruh, I agree with your latter, but come on? Lexus? I love their interior and exterior. Well, to each their own.

          • SteersUright

Lol, I did? Maybe I didn’t explain myself well… I love Lexus. I admire the quality of the products they put out which are 2nd to none from my anecdotal experience and I’d buy one in a minute. But I dont find their current lineup beautiful, which is, of course, totally subjective. I loved the original LS with its understated elegance. I know they want to standout, but damn! Their Star Wars design language is a bit garish I feel. If anything, I think it works best only on the current RX and maybe the IS350 F sport as well. The others are starting to look bizarre and the new LS is downright ugly, which is just criminal. Parked next to an S-Class or 7-series, it looks frumpy.

          • donald seymour

I genuinely get what you are saying. I can definitely see where you are coming from. Not that I agree, and not that totally disagree. But I see your point.

        • dumblikeyou2

I’m not sure human nature is that easily convinced or the Cadillac ATS, or any Cadillac, would be a hit. Forget the rest of the world respecting American cars, which they never will, but Americans aren’t even interested in Cadillac’s style. Certain parameters work because they just work.

        • donald seymour

@@Apollo82:disqus True, but I feel that they eloquently executed the design cues with their own taste.

          • Bash

That is absolutely correct. They did a great job.

    • Johnny

Yes, because the 2 main designers are Peter Schreyer who was designing for Audi and the father of the Audi TT,. Who is now President and Chief Designer of Hyundai & Kia. The Other designer is Chris Chapman who was SUV designer for Izuzu, then hired by BMW designed the X5 or X1 (Can’t recall) and helped design with other BMW products. They both designed the Genesis concept coupe.

    • Bob

I kinda wish BMW would crib their own design cues like this.

    • KidRed

BMW has way more length in their hoods. This doesn’t look to have a long hood, so the profiles should look differently. Unlike an Infiniti G35 which overlaid exactly onto BMW 335i. And the interior doesn’t look anything like BMW.

  • Miknik

The green house is pure Lexus IS, the rest looks like a “Best of Album” covering the 3 German best sellers…

  • disqus_83g6mJmr6l

doesn’t seems as original & intriguing as the kia

  • Jesse A. C. Majors

    Well now

    will it fail?

  • fabri99

Exterior styling doesn’t seem too bad, but not so special either. The same can be said about the interiors… I hope it won’t just be another meh-kind of car.

    • donald seymour

Fab, bro, school must be taking a toll on you Laugh out Loud. You should learn from me about jumping to conclusions too soon. I had to learn to see the car in it’s fullness before I can make my statements. Do you agree that the proportions are spot on?

      • fabri99

School is yet to start. I’m at my most rested and relaxed, so you can imagine what I’ll be like in a few months… Anyway, you are probably right, proportions look good, yet it doesn’t give me that feeling of a special car. I hope to see more soon and to be wrong. It’s too early to judge, that’s true…

  • ErnieB

Better looking than any of their Asian rivals.. I don’t care if it take cues from the Germans.. it looks great to me.

  • Infinite1

The profile screams Mercedes to me which is not a bad thing. Looks like a good looking car from the pictures.

  • Honda NSX-R

Yes there is a lot of influence of design from various cars (including the C Class), but I still think its a great looking car.

    • donald seymour

      Yes, however, I don’t see the C-Class. I see more 3 than C.

  • McF1

“…just surfaced of its exterior and interior free of any camouflage…”.
The interior picture of the G70 is not new. 🙁 It was shown on car sites towards the end of July.

The exterior picture is new. From the picture it seems to look okay. I agreed with “Bash”, it has a mix of the German prestige cars.

  • ashullll

I can’t be the only one who thinks this looks beautiful. From what I can see this looks way better than the stinger imo, although we’ll have to wait and see the car in its entirety. I mean it looks so good, I actually want to buy one if they price it competitively

  • pcurve

I like the exterior, but interior needs to be more adventurous… Hyundai needs to hire better interior designers and material engineers.

  • kalins1

I think it looks like a 1976 Lincoln Town Car because they both have four wheels and four doors.

  • DM

From that angle I see a 3 series Gran Coupe. Genesis are good looking cars but they still lack a true identity. I see a mix of BMW and Infiniti; even more so in the G80.

  • ctk4949

My Genesis lease is over in February, hopefully this is on sale by then. 🙂

    Looks nice.

  • KidRed

    Wow, that looks really good.

  • I’d buy it…
