Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Destroyed After Speeding Off Brazilian Runway

A Lamborghini Aventador Roadster has been destroyed following a high-speed crash in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The accident happened on Saturday when the driver of the Italian exotic was taking part in a drag racing event at a local runway. Eyewitnesses saw the Aventador spear off the end of the runway, plummeting into a ravine and being engulfed in flames.

It is unclear if the brakes on the car failed or if the driver simply braked too late but local publication Globo reports that he escaped the crash with minor injuries.

As the images below show, only a burnt-out shell remains, a far cry from the heavily modified Aventador that accelerated down the 1.5 km runway.

It is thought that this Aventador Roadster was one of just four residing in the country.

  • TheBelltower

    Okay, two things…

First, how does anyone survive this?
Second, who the hell would design a runway like this?

    • Ilbirs

The works at the Aerovale, the small airport located in Caçapava (city in the east region of São Paulo state) are stopped for now and the runway, the sole part built in this enterpreneurship, is unfinished. This is due to a R$ 30 million debt that the enterpreneurs are facing and part of the terrain was handed over to Desenvolve SP, the state development agency, that put it to auction. As the runway was there and not used to what is supposed to, it’s being rented for some events like this one involving supercars in which an Aventador was lost.

      • TheBelltower

Thanks for the info. Seems that the only way this runway could be any less safe for speed testing, would be if they had stray dogs and nails on the tarmac.

  • SteersUright

Amazing how people are surviving horrific crashed nowadays that used to mean certain death not all that long ago. Cars have become impressively safer.

    • Infinite1

I agree. Back then, cars that end up looking like this, have a body or two that’s in a similar situation. Safety on cars have some a long way since

  • kachuks

Doesn’t even look like a car anymore. Looks like something that was droned with a hellfire missile.

  • Hussain Albagali

    • Silimarina

Let me guess, you think NASA faked the Moon landing and that The Earth is flat

      • LWOAP

I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.

  • Hussain Albagali

And the second photo the car burning the rims look old cars not the same rims on LG

  • Trackhacker

Wow, it look like crap. Glad it got destroyed. Unfortunately he will probably buy another once and rice it out again.

I know one thing, I would not race on a runway like that, especially an unfinished runway. Either way, that Aventador is done.

  • Andy Pham

Ok… so why didn’t they just start the race from the other end of the dragstrip?

  • Knotmyrealname

Not even THAT would buff out.
