Top Gear’s Performance Car Of The Year Coming Your Way

Top Gear’s annual Performance Car Of The Year is here and based on the trailer alone, is shaping up to be a memorable contest.

In order to find a winner, this incredible group test will pit 12 of the market’s finest performance cars against each other through a series of track and road tests in Scotland.

Headline acts in the test are the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, McLaren 720S and Ford GT. There’s also the new Porsche 911 GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT R and two radically-different hot hatches, the Honda Civic Type R and Volkswagen Up! GTI.

Completing the slew of cars is the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, BMW M4 CS, Audi RS3 Sedan, Lexus LC500 and Audi R8 Plus Spyder.

Between now and November 1st, Top Gear will be releasing new videos and galleries in the lead-up to announcing the winner. Stay tuned.

I have a feeling the 720S or the GT will win

I’ve always preferred EVO as a car magazine, as it always looked the most serious, detailed and involving magazine out there. Top Gear always seemed childish and superficial to me, yet, due to Harris presence, I may have to reconsider…

EVO magazine is like car p!rn really….

Their current motto is slightly more elegant (“the thrill of driving”), but perhaps they are open to suggestions.

I’ve been a TG mag subscriber for around 7 years and it has always been my favourite out there. They’ve got some very good writers and they’re doing some great features. I wouldn’t call it childish and superficial to be honest. It is light-hearted, you do often laugh when you read an article but it’s very honest in its reviews and they mostly provide clear-cut winners in their comparisons which I personally value a lot. Harris, as good he is a presenter, I don’t think he’s a very good writer. His monthly column is a little silly and unremarkable. Also, he doesn’t do many written reviews so don’t expect to find too many of those. Ollie Marriage and Jack Rix do most of them and they’re both quite good.

Ive got a feeling that GT2RS would be a better fit in the lineup than the VW Lupo…

    • gor134

Including the Up GTI seems like a joke. Idk why they would include that

      • Vassilis

Because it’s a back-to-basics hot hatch. Very special thing.

The 911 GT3 is going to win. Watch. Never mind, this is 2017 and the “new” 911 GT3 is a 2018… actually I just checked the picture and they have the 2018 911 GT3, so yeah, it’s going to win.
