Rimac’s Next Hypercar To Tackle Tesla Roadster

The second-generation Tesla Roadster has been stealing a lot of headlines recently but for the moment, it remains as nothing more than a prototype with some really impressive performance figures attached to it.

When it comes to all-electric hypercars that have proven their performance, it is the Rimac Concept_One that has led the charge. Soon, it will be replaced by a new model and it could take the fight directly to the Tesla Roadster.

We first heard about the new hypercar in September and according to Auto Guide, the new Rimac will push the performance boundary.

Currently codenamed the Concept Two, the car will use a new powertrain but it’s not yet known exactly how Rimac will improve on its current battery and electric motor technology. Either way, we can expect to see in excess of the 1,224 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque delivered by the Concept_One.

Beyond its performance improvements, Rimac chief operating officer Monika Mikac recently revealed that the new model will also be more comfortable and luxurious than its predecessor.

Did not realise how stunning this car looks

    • Bo Hanan

Crossing a JAG and a Tesla will do that.

  • Considering Rimac can make cars, I’d image this’ll be the car the Tesla Roadster will aim to beat.

    • THEY MADE EIGHT OF THESE, NOT EXACTLY GROUND BREAKING.

      • But it’ll still be 8 more than what Tesla will make.

  • Shtekeris

Anyways, this and Tesla Roadster is pretty dangerous on street, though. As most people are not ready to handle that kind of acceleration. I mean, amazing tech and I would love to feel that 1.6 to 60, but that can also go so wrong on street.

    • RDS Alphard

These kind of car have heavy assist, I’m pretty sure they have something to guide them moving straight… as for Hammond’s case, he was trying to corner.

      • JimmyK

All the assists can not replace a skillful driver with that kind of cars.See what is happening with the self driving cars.Sure they will have assists but with that acceleration you have to be a f1 pilot or jet fighter pilot 🙂

        • RDS Alphard

Isn’t Tesla have autopilot can that predict crash? Maybe that’ll help?

    • Status

You shouldn’t be racing or driving hard on the streets in the first place.

  • JA

Rimac has sold 1 (one) car so far, and not named Concept_One or Concept_S, but named Volar-e to spanish IDIADA. The guy is a fraud and full of s***t.

    • fabri99

Any source? I’d like to know more about this.

      • alexxx

You probably mean you want to know more of this guys (JA) illness, right?😊

        • fabri99

Diplomacy is one of my (many) qualities.

          • alexxx

            I can see….should learn from you🤔😀

      • ACCORDING TO WIKI THEY MADE THE PLANNED EIGHT CARS. NO IDEA IF THERE WAS ANY FRAUD INVOLVED THO.

    • RDS Alphard

a company that supply batteries to Koenigsegg is a fraud & full of shit?

      • alexxx

Don’t bother…by his nickname I can tell he is some local Rimac hater…

      • SEEMS SOME PEOPLE THINK ANYONE WHO MAKES ELECTRIC CARS ARE CON ARTISTS.

  • Tumbi Mtika

And lo, the Roadster was vanquished.

I KNOW Rimac can deliver. This will be an amazing car.

Why is everyone sleeping on Rimac?

  • JimmyK

    Way more beautiful than Tesla.

  • An Existing Person

Rimac is incredibly underrated, and many are unaware of the extent to which Rimac’s battery systems are implemented outside of their own products. I’ll gladly put my money towards Rimac over Tesla. They sure know how to make cars.

    • RDS Alphard

Rimac doesn’t know how to marketing, compare to Tesla wise.

      • alexxx

Tesla is helped by one of the strongest and richest state in the world and Rimac is from Croatia, which is a poor country (by European standards) so he doesn’t get any help anyway….Musk probably has more money than annual Croatian budget…

        • RDS Alphard

          You’re right about that.

I wish Rimac can make more cars & advertised it better.

      • To be fair, Tesla’s marketing strategy is based on hype and people not concentrating and trying to claim that their car crashed itself. Not exactly a masterpiece in marketing.

        • RDS Alphard

Also worth noting Tesla pushed their car to “people who cared about environment” while Rimac seems to just pushed their car to whoever can afford it.

  • Bash

Looks better than a Tesla.. some jaguar in it. Which I like.

  • JBsC6

What is the approximate price of this dream machine? I’m sure it’s great and accident avoidance systems will keep the passengers safe….competing with a tesla that barely exists as a prototype,,,,wild times

    • Honda NSX-R

The Concept One is like $1.4 million dollars…

    • ORIGINALLY US$980,000.

  • fabri99

I’m very hyped. I love Rimac as a car brand, hopefully they can become an established car maker.

  • TheBelltower

This is seriously sexy. It’s way more low-slung than the Tesla. The roadster will have supercharger access a removable roof and could feasibly be a DD. But this will be a seductive alternative. The more EV competition, the better.

  • Auto

Looks cool, but I like my sports cars with sound and acceleration that doesn’t destroy my spine.

  • Honda NSX-R

I want Rimac to make a Model S competitor.

  • Craig

It looks nice. But it also looks like yet another ‘small-guy’ car.

  • TB

    That’s nice…I dig the look…pretty darn sharp!

  • Lyonel Baratheon

Tesla like a Ford, Rimac like a Firrari.
    Both brands are in demand.

  • Six Thousand Times

These can really accelerate but they are spectacularly heavy. This, and probably the Tesla, too. Not fantastic for sports cars. Still interesting.

  • I’D TAKE THIS OVER THE NEW ROADSTER. SEEMS THEY MADE ONLY 8, DON’T KNOW WHY THEY COULDN’T MAKE MORE.
