The latest-generation BMW M5 hasn’t been on the market very long but the German brand is wasting no time in answering the call from customers begging for a little more performance.
Consequently, production of the M5 Competition Package will reportedly start in the beginning of April, reports a Bimmer Post member, paraphrasing the statements of the head of BMW’s Driving Experience event in Sweden. As the title says, the car will reportedly deliver a healthy 625 hp, 25 hp more than the ordinary model.
If previous Competition Package variants from BMW are anything to go by, the modifications won’t end there. A number of tweaks to the chassis, including the springs and shocks, are probable, as are a set of new wheels and some subtle badging on the inside and out. Customers may even have a greater options list at their disposal.
At this early stage, it is impossible to say how much quicker the M5 Competition Package will be but expect it to shave a tenth or two off the M5’s 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 3.2 seconds. The vehicle’s handling will also be superior.
In the United States, the 2018 M5 starts at $102,600, making it the most expensive ‘regular’ M5 model ever. Pricing for the M5 Competition Package may start at in excess of $110,000.
