In 2016, Ferrari rolled out the GTC4 Lusso T. The turbocharged, four-seater with the gorgeous shooting brake body style is essentially a more affordable and more accessible vehicle than the V12-powered GTC4 Lusso.

Since the GTC4 Lusso T came out, Ferrari’s developed faster, more-powerful machines. Which begs the question of if the model is still worth the money.

The two-door wagon shooting brake shares a lot in common with the GTC4 Lusso, but also has some crucial differences.

Instead of the 6.3-liter V12 that makes 680 hp (690 PS) and 514 lb-ft (697 Nm) of torque, the T version makes do with a V8. As its name implies, it utilizes a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 602 hp (610 PS) and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque. While the engine is the most noticeable difference, the GTC4 Lusso T also ditches the clever all-wheel system in favor of rear-wheel drive.

You Don’t Really Need The V12, Do You?

Before the introduction of the Portofino, which shares the same turbocharged V8, the GTC4 Lusso T was the entry-level model in Ferrari’s lineup. Unlike the rest of the range, though, the GTC4 Lusso also let you bring three other passengers.

With all of Ferrari’s offerings, is the GTC4 Lusso T still a good choice? Kelley Blue Book gets their hands on one to find out.

Right off the bat, it’s clear to see that the shooting brake isn’t like other Ferrari’s other vehicles. Its suspension setup, turbocharged V8, and spacious cargo area make it a grand tourer instead of a track-focused monster. That, though, doesn’t mean it isn’t fun around a corner. Quite the opposite, as with things like rear-wheel steering, it can do it all.

At the end of the day, if you can live without the V12 engine, the GTC4 Lusso T is an awesome machine that’s worth considering if you’re in the market for a luxurious super GT, and definitely worthy of the Ferrari badge.
