Mercedes-Maybach Drops New Teasers Of High-Riding Concept

A couple new teasers of the latest concept from Mercedes-Maybach have been released ahead of the vehicle’s premiere at the Beijing Auto Show.

Officially dubbed the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury, the vehicle will be a high-riding vehicle and not simply a GLS equipped with some new luxurious components.

As a matter of fact, an unnamed source close to Mercedes-Benz has informed us that the concept won’t even resemble the GLS and instead by similar in size and statue to the Bentley Continental Flying Spur. No images of the vehicle’s exterior have been published but we’re told it will be extremely bold and opinion-splitting.

These latest teasers of the vehicle support these assertions. The interior appears bespoke and doesn’t appear to share a single part with any existing production vehicles from the Mercedes-Benz family. Aluminum and rose gold accents are abundant and there’s also a healthy dose of mood lighting which will ensure the vehicle stands out and captures the attention of attendees at Auto China.

Based on previous information, it was understood that Mercedes-Maybach would put the vehicle into production as a new range-topping version of the GLS. However, if the vehicle is indeed more radical than we’d imagined then it’s harder to say whether or not it will hit the roads.

Why is that center so wide? How are people supposed to do it in here?

    • LWOAP

      Why would you do that?

      • Puddingpopper

What else are you supposed to do with this much opulence?

        • LWOAP

Show off to middle eastern princes and Sheiks?

          • Puddingpopper

            Sheiks need love too

      It’s a concept man!

  • Rich Money

i like how thick the a-pillar is. about 8-12 inches. very luxurious.

    • Perry F. Bruns

Hard to see around, but if you can afford this you can afford to settle any wrongful injury or death lawsuits.

As for the name, I’m calling mine Geoff 2.0.

  • Erzhik

Let’s just say it now. We all know the final product will look NOTHING like this concept. NOTHING. Which begs the question, what is the point?

Also, there is a goddamn tea kettle in the back.

    • Matt

You’re probably wrong, the concept looks pretty production-ready to me.

    • Marty

The point could be just to get people to wrap their heads around the idea of a Maybach SUV so they are prepared for it (even if it will look different). But it could also be a pure sales pitch, in which case the prototype is quite close to the real thing.

  • rover10

This would make more sense if based off a van package, but with a totally unique exterior and interior. Advanced suspension and a magic carpet ride would be essential, but the biggest plus would be plenty of headroom. The future is in this direction for super luxury vehicles and not confined in low roof limos.

  • WHOEVER CAME UP WITH THE RENDER SHOULD KEEP IN MIND THAT MAYBACH IS AN ULTRA LUXURY BRAND. A SQUARE STEERING WHEEL AND SHIFT PADDLES JUST DON’T WORK IN THAT SEGMENT.

  • Ary Wisesa

It looks clean and sophisticated. I like it! It’s time for Mercedes to let go those “turbine-looking” air vents on the dashboard. 🙂

    • donald seymour

      I actually like the vents.
