Owner Films His Dodge Challenger Hellcat Going Up In Flames

The owner of a purple Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has shared footage of his prized muscle car being engulfed by fire and destroyed by the side of the road.

As described by its owner in the video that follows, the car had a rather unfortunate history, even before combusting earlier this month.

Trouble first struck the car some time ago, when the original 6.2-liter supercharged V8 blew up. The car was soon outfitted with a brand new engine which, sadly, didn’t last very long, either. The owner claims that throughout the new engine’s break-in period, he experienced a number of issues like surging and stumbling of the powertrain.

On the fateful day of the fire, the man took out his prized Hellcat on a rural road but it started making strange noises and refused to accelerate.

After trying to resolve the issue with a healthy boot-full of the throttle, the owner eventually pulled over after smelling gas. Moments later, the car caught fire and the man was forced to evacuate, taking his phone with him and recording the tragic sight.

The automaker and insurance company will probably investigate the fire, but it’s possible it might be related to the recall Dodge issued three years ago for potential fuel leaks affecting the Challenger Hellcat and the four-door Charger Hellcat.

  • Mr. EP9

It’s a hot ride and now it’s even hotter.

    I’ll go now.

  • Karl

    Dodge is on fire lately..

  • TheToadPrince..~~ToadSquad

a tesla goes on fire nobody bats an eye…a dodge goes on fire and everyone loses their minds.

    • Chris Barbieri

That’s because most of the journalists are a bunch of bleeding heart liberals who desperately want Tesla to succeed, think Elon Musk is a god.

    • rodriguez256

Who’s losing their mind on this one? Tesla gets a lot of hate in the comment section of this site.

    • ChicagoBlah

      Why so serious?

  • Bo Hanan

Dodge Hellcat, Sooo hot right now. Hellcat.

  • Chris Barbieri

If this is related to a recall then I wonder if it would be covered.

    • Harlan McCartney

Nope he was drag racing the car, and posted the video online.

  • Fuzz Martin

“This is not clickbait.” Followed by unnecessary 14-minutes of video

  • Derrick Meyer

    He listened to my mixtape

  • Gene

    “I’m tearing up, guys…”

Oh, for Christ’s sakes, grow a pair! It’s just a burned-out car! Get over it!

Buy a new one… and treat it nicely instead of like a sixteen-year old…

  • Randy Terpstra

Sorry, to hear of the loss. But honestly…just after you’ve put in the new engine? What? And as the Hellcat burns to the ground, one sees all that rubber on the road. I suppose that was left by a Civic? Dude, I hope your insurance guy doesn’t see this.

  • Six_Tymes

    i have a headache

  • Mailer Guy

Kind of ironic… Don’t you think?

  • How fitting. A car with the word “Hell” in its name goes up in flames. Sigh. Reminds me of when Chevy thought the Avalanche was a good idea.
