New Kia Crossover Spotted Testing, Looks Like The Production Version Of SP Concept

While the production version of Kia’s SP Concept was initially thought to be an India-only product, it has since been confirmed for the US, although whether or not it will be made available globally remains a question mark.

As for what it will look like, this recent batch of spy images represents the only clues we have, apart from the actual SP Concept of course, which made its debut at Auto Expo last February, in New Delhi, India.

Is this really it?

Looks like it. Take for instance the headlight holes in the camouflage – they are positioned one on top of the other, much like with the SP Concept’s light cluster configuration at the front. Then there’s the way the window line swoops upwards towards the rear pillar, and the apparent thickness of the rear lights.

Unfortunately, not much else is known about the vehicle at the time, other than the fact that it might share the same platform as the Hyundai Creta, which would make sense since both the Creta as well as this prototype are sub-compact in size.

Inside, expect modern safety and connectivity systems, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and possibly even lane keeping, blind spot and frontal collision avoidance tech.

Once it’s out there (either late 2019 or early 2020), the Kia Tusker should look to challenge the likes of the Toyota C-HR, Mazda CX-3 and the rest of the sub-compact crossover segment.
