Peugeot’s chief executive Jean-Philippe Imparato has confirmed that the 508 Sport Engineered Concept introduced at the Geneva Motor Show will make it to production.

Responding to a tweet from a British journalist about the car, Imparato said that the sporty sedan will be built. Peugeot’s boss didn’t say when we can expect to see the production version, or what changes it will undergo, but the vehicle will form part of a future range of electrified, performance-focused vehicles from the French car manufacturer.

Powering the concept is Peugeot’s PureTech 200 engine coupled with a 110 hp electric motor that drives the front wheels. A second electric motor with 200 hp sits at the rear axle and results in a very exciting all-wheel drive animal. According to Peugeot, the 508 Sport Engineered Concept hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds and continues through to a 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed. An 11.8 kWh battery allows the sedan to drive for 50 km (31 miles) on all-electric power.

The exterior design of the concept isn’t drastically different to current 508 models, so we shouldn’t see any big changes before the car goes into production. Compared to lesser 508 models, the Sport Engineered features sportier front and rear bumpers, a number of lime green trimmings and black wheels. In the cabin, you’ll notice black leather and Alcantara, a number of carbon fiber accents, and some green accent stitching.

If the 508 Sport Engineered Concept tickles your fancy, stay tuned to Carscoops as we’re bound to find out more about the production model.
