Duc created the vehicle as a solution to parents who work but also have children that need to be taken to school. The Chico is all electric and has an interior which any child would love. Heck, even we’re fascinated by what’s going on inside this small city car.
Instead of just fitting a traditional bench, Duc has designed a bright yellow seat inspired by swings that is connected to the roof and hangs down as opposed to being fixed to the floor like a normal car seat. As the Chico drives itself along, the swing seat gently sways back and forth and the vibrations generated by the seat’s movement is converted into electrical energy and stored in a battery pack on the roof of the car. This power is then funneled to the powertrain and through the pavement.
The concept also features a small, secondary bench seat on the other side of the cabin and a plush floor which children can sit and play on, as well as a small ramp which young children could crawl along to enter and exit the vehicle. And all that comes wrapped in a novel and playful exterior.
