Award-Winning 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Is A White And Blue Gem

Buying a rare and prized Porsche 911 like a 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 sure doesn’t come cheap, but for those who are into the market for one of those beauties, one is currently up for sale on Bring A Trailer.

At the time of writing, the car had a highest current bid of $430,000 with nine days left in the auction – and it will go much, much higher than that. No surprise there, as other examples in similar condition have sold for more than $1 million in recent years.

This particular car is finished in Grand Prix White with blue exterior trim. It was purchased by the current owner in 2013 and underwent a comprehensive restoration through 2014 and 2015, during which its 2.7-liter flat-six was rebuilt, the exterior was repainted and the interior freshened up. In 2017, it was displayed at The Quail Motorsports Gathering in 2017, and the following year, it won first in class at the 2018 Carmel Concours on the Avenue. It is being sold with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, refurbishment records, factory literature, and a clean California title.

Porsche built the Carrera RS 2.7 to meet homologation requirements for it to complete in the Group 4 class. The German manufacturer needed to build 500 examples, but ended up building 1,580, approximately 1,300 of which were in standard ‘Touring’ guise like this one.

Prices for the 2.7 RS have skyrocketed in recent years, and back in 2015, it was named one of the most rapidly-appreciating vehicles of the past decade, with prices rising almost 700 per cent from 2004 to 2014.
