A stunning 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was recently put on display at the 2019 Ford Nationals in Pennsylvania and this clip provides us with an close look at the super ‘Stang.

Ford first showed the Shelby GT500 to the world at the Detroit Auto Show in January, but strangely, has yet to reveal just how much power the car has. What we do know is that it uses a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 which delivers “in excess of 700 hp” coupled to a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that’s sending its power to the rear wheels through a custom carbon fiber driveshaft. By the way, the supercharger displaces 2.65-liters, making it larger than the blower used in the Hellcat and Camaro ZL1.

This video doesn’t offer any additional insight into how much power the GT500 has, but it does show the car finished in a stunning shade of red. The car in question is the base-spec model, free of the optional Carbon Fiber Track Package. This means there isn’t a large carbon fixed wing at the rear, other carbon trimmings, Recaro bucket seats, and no carbon fiber wheels.

A second GT500 is featured in the clip, and it’s one of the prototypes used during wind tunnel testing of the car. The prototype is apparently based on a Shelby GT350, but has been adorned with bespoke components from the GT500, including an even more overt hood.

Sales of the new car will commence in the fall and, hopefully, additional specifications will be announced before then.
