Nissan’s Updated Navara Gets Detailed As It Goes On Sale In Europe

Nissan is launching the updated Navara across Europe, so it’s only natural to release more photos and all the details of the popular pickup truck.

The minimal exterior changes might make the new Navara look… well, not all that new, but the bulk of Nissan’s updates are hidden under the skin, making it not only more comfortable and fuel efficient but also more capable than ever.

For starters, the new Japanese 1-tonne truck gets an updated 2.3-liter diesel four-cylinder engine which now features two turbochargers across all versions. The base one offers 160hp (163PS) and 313lb-ft (425Nm) of torque, while the range-topper comes with 187hp (190PS) and 331lb-ft (450Nm).

Nissan has also updated the engine with steel pistons and carbon-coated piston rings, a lower compression ratio, increased fuel pressure thanks to a new pump, an imrpoved cooling system, as well as a new exhaust that incorporates the particulate filter and SCR technology. The result is less emissions and better fuel efficiency than before.

The 2.3-liter diesel is hooked to an all-new six-speed manual transmission, which Nissan claims offers more refinement, ease of shifting and enhanced synchronisation. In addition, the optional seven-speed automatic gearbox has also been retuned for better comfort and responsiveness.

The Navara is one of the few 1-tonne pickup trucks to feature a rear 5-link suspension, but this has been applied now to the King Cab as well. This makes the Navara King Cab not only more comfortable and better to drive but also allows for an increase in payload, with the updated truck offering between 1,115kg (2,458lbs) and 1,180kg (2,601lbs) capacity.

Nissan has also lifted the rear by 25mm and added 2-stage coil springs, with the front suspension was tuned for reduced steering effort and the braking system overhauled, with bigger discs up front and discs at the rear replacing the previous drums.
