Audi enthusiasts in the United States have been clamoring for the car manufacturer to sell its Avant models stateside for years and if you read between the lines of recent social media posts from the company, they could be on the horizon.

The German automaker first sent the hearts racing of U.S. Avant enthusiasts earlier this year when it published a tweet depicting a summoning circle with the text ‘Avants in the U.S.’ In recent days, Audi U.S. has published no less than five images of Avant models sold throughout the years but never offered locally.

The first image depicts a blue Audi RS2 with the text ‘The Audi RS 2, never released in America. #WeVantAvants.’ The second-image shows off the first-generation RS6 Avant and also reads ‘Was never available in America. #WeVantAvants.’ For the third image we’re presented with a stunning red first-generation RS4 Avant, again ‘Not available in America #WeVantAvants.’ The final two images show the second-generation RS4 Avant and third-generation RS4 Avant with the same hashtag.

It has long been reported that the latest-generation Audi RS6 Avant could arrive on U.S. shores and we think that’s exactly what Audi is teasing with this social media campaign. Adding merit to this is the fact that Audi Sport recently published a teaser image of what’s believed to be the new RS6 Avant ahead of its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

In April, Audi Sport research and development boss Oliver Hoffman confirmed that it was possible the new RS6 Avant would be offered in North America.

“The U.S. market is increasingly interested in real station wagons like the RS6 Avant. Therefore, it is entirely possible that we will bring it back to North America,” he said.
