Ford’s Mustang-Inspired Electric Crossover Could Debut In LA

Ford has been teasing their Mustang-inspired electric crossover for over a year and now it appears the model will make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this fall.

According to The Detroit Bureau, a Ford spokesperson said the public is “expected to get its first peek at the new SUV in November.” That seems to suggest an LA debut as the annual motor show kicks into high gear on November 20th.

While the spokesperson suggested we’ll only get a glimpse of the crossover, Ford has previously said the model will be unveiled later this year and go on sale in 2020. This seems to indicate the crossover will be revealed in full, rather than just teased or shown in concept form. Of course, that remains unconfirmed and we’ll likely learn more closer to November.

Ford has previously shown a teaser sketch which revealed the crossover will have a Mustang-inspired rear end with ‘triple’ taillights. The image also showed the model will have slender mirrors, muscular hips and a sporty roof.

Specifications remain a mystery, but Ford has said the crossover will have a range of at least 300 miles (483 km). The automaker has also hinted at an “effortless” recharging experience.

Besides learning more about the Mustang-inspired crossover, The Detroit Bureau spoke to Dave Pericak who oversees the company’s new Icons division which focuses on iconic models such as the Mustang, Bronco and F-150 Raptor. While he didn’t go into too many specifics, Pericak said the company is committed to manual transmissions and they “do not intend to walk away” from them.
